Zimmerman's 12 Mile Store opened at 12-mile corner (now 223rd and Stark St.) in 1938 after the corner-store building was leased by Carl and Ada Zimmerman. The Zimmermans purchased the location in 1943. The store went through several remodels, updates, name changes, and owners until its closure in 2001. The store has also been known as Zim's IGA, Zim's Country Store, Zim's Shopping Center, Zim's Red Apple Market, and Zim's Sports Plaza. The location was demolished in 2005 to make way for the expansion of the Weston Kia Dealership.
