Service patch for U.S. Army Advance Section, Services of Supply, World War I. Patch is composed of a light blue wool felt square, unfinished edges, on which is embroidered red Cross Lorraine flanked by letters "A | S" (Advance Section), encircled by blue embroidered line. Blue thread is in two slightly different shades.

- Donated in 2018 with a pocket that was cut from the U.S. Army uniform of Private William Walch when he was killed in action in France shortly before the end of World War I. He was from Hillsview (southeast of Gresham), and the pocket was sent to his father Lorenz Walch there, containing uniform buttons, patches, and other belongings.) The Walch family owned a farm on Hogan Road. William's siblings were Joseph and Herman Walch, both of whom are buried at Willamette Cemetery; and Pauline (Paulina) Walch Beil, who kept the pocket and other memorabilia included in this accession. Her daughter, Margaret Dahne, donated it to GHS in 2018.
