The Statue of Liberty replica topping the horse fountain in this image stood at the intersection of Main and Powell from 1918 to approximately 1924, when the statue and fountain were taken down to improve traffic flow on Powell Boulevard. The town purchased and mounted the statue, which was known as the Gresham Goddess, during World War I.
