- The Larch Mountain logging train line was built in around 1916 to replace the plank road that had previously extended up the south side of the mountain. A note on the back of this photo identifies the date as 1922, which could indicate that an extension to the existing railroad was built then. However, the note may be mistaken, as it appears to have been written many years after the photo was taken.
