- Found in collections. A contemporary description of the team members from the Morning Oregonian: Iris Gullickson, nozzle girl, Evelyn Metzger and Hester Thorpe, hydrant girls, Olive Merrill, leader, Ethel Merrill and Marguerite Schantine, handle girls, Isabel Metzger, Bessie Strebin, Addie Quesinberry, and Eva Hamlin, cart pullers. Mrs. C. Merrill chaperoned the team; Ernest Thompson was team manager. Girls' hose teams were briefly an attraction in Oregon in the early 1910s, with teams from Astoria, Lents, and Gresham competing in hose laying and racing competitions at events like Fourth of July festivals, Pendleton Round Up, and the Multnomah County Fair. The Gresham team also put on an exhibition at the Willamette Valley Firemen's Tournament in 1914.
