- Presumably donated by Lilly in 1997 when she donated the items worn in the photo, although no photographs are mentioned in the deed of gift. Meier & Frank was a department store chain founded in Portland, Oregon - in 1933, when Lilly bought the outfit, it consisted of a 17-story block-wide store in downtown Portland, at the time one of the largest retail stores in the United States. $16 in 1933 is the equivalent of over $370 in 2023.
