- Provenance
- The first teacher of Lusted Grade School was J. B. Lent who also started the first Lusted School in his home in 1882. Around 1888, residents of Lusted Road wanted to form own school district separate from Orient school district. A school site of one acre was donated by Carrie Roork and a one-room school house was built with the help of donations. In 1899, a two-room frame building replaced the former building. Creating more space was still a need and the district consolidated with Orient in 1946. The school building, used to store farm equipment, burned in 1989.
