Black and white photo of Sterling & Johnson Hardware Store. Two men are standing in the center of the photo, a little far back from the photographer. The man on the left is wearing a brown or black hat and what appear to be workman's clothes and boots. The man on the right is wearing a work apron and sleeve covers over a clean whit shirt and tie, and he has a straw hat with a ribbon. There are various farm tools hanging on the back wall and the left and right side of the photo show different types of hardware merchandise avaliable for purchase. The back of the photographs reads "Sterling & Johnson Hardware Store. Gresham, Oregon. Main St. between 2nd & 3rd Sts. Mr. Johnston standing at right. Later became Kidder & Johnston Hardware" There is also an address label for Mr. Roy H. Gibbs on the upper right corner of the back of the photograph.

- Provenance
- The Sterling & Johnson Hardware Store opened in 1911 and became Sterling & Kidder when Louis Kidder purchased William Johnson's share in 1912. Kidder eventually became the sole owner, and the store remained in the Kidder family until closing in 1982. Photo likely donated by Roy H. Gibbs.
